a little wee tooth, but a big, big day!

As usual, I have absolutely no time to blog! I constantly have thoughts I want to write down, but never any time to do it!  Tonight, I have to grade about 60 memoirs and write lesson plans, but I just had to document something special.

With a lot of anticipation building, Brielle finally lost her very first tooth tonight!  She basically allowed the tooth to loosen itself and fall out without a lot of wiggling.  She so badly wanted it to fall out, but didn't really want to force it (See earlier blog relating to her Grandpop Bayly patience disorder).  The tooth became loose months ago....so long ago that the adult tooth has actually already grown in! She had several tearful nights worrying that it would just never come out (oh! the drama).  Tonight was the night! I asked her if I could just give it a little wiggle (the tooth was practically hanging by a thread).  She cried and kept saying yes, but then would not open her mouth!  Finally, she very reluctantly opened her mouth and I started to give it one little wiggle and she yanked her face back and before she could even close her mouth, the tooth fell out.  Haaaaallll-le-lujah!  Also, thankfully, the tooth falling out cancelled out the little bit of blood, which would have normally caused ear curdling screams!  She went to bed so happy.  Meanwhile, Camryn sorrowfully told me that she wishes she was six.  I told her it would be here soon enough.

As we sat examining her tiny little tooth, I just had to reminisce about the time that very tooth actually sprouted in her 11 month old mouth.  With Brielle, everything is our first.  I could not wait for her to grow her first tooth---baby book in hand, ready to document the very second it cut through.  There may actually be hour and minute stamps on her tooth chart! That little tooth I was just holding in my hand was her very first.  Our first baby's first tooth.  What now?

Now? Now I need to slow down and cherish the moments.  Most of Camryn's teeth were documented to the correct day....okay, maybe week....ish.....and Kendall; that poor baby.  I still have not even documented all of her teeth that have grown in.  In my defense, we were going through a very stressful move and I am fairly certain she grew a few while the baby books were all packed up!

The fact is, Camryn is moving faster (hence the self-taught two-wheel riding at early four) and Kendall is moving even faster (don't even get me started about the things she does).  I really want to make a conscious effort to sloooooow down.  I'm always in a hurry.  A hurry to get homework done, so I can get dinner ready, then a hurry to clean up dinner so I can get the kids bathed.  Following this, it's always a hurry to get them in bed not a second past their appointed bed time.  I want take in all the firsts and I want all the hugs and kisses I can get.  I've learned they are not always going to offer up hugs and kisses as easy as they do now.  A lot of Brielle's hugs, at age six,  are a result of her feeling bad for not wanting to hurt my feelings by saying "not right now." (Not ashamed! I'll take the pity hug!)

Wish Daddy luck with the tooth-for-the-glitter-sprinkled-money exchange tonight!
